This is embarrassing because I am a chef.
My turkey is still frozen. I put it in the fridge to thaw several days ago with the intention of cooking it today for a post-turkey day party. I should have checked on it last night to insure that it was thawing, but I did not.
Today I found out our fridge is so cold that Mr. Turkey still has ice crystals a-clinging.
As I have to go to work today anyway, and have talked to my roommate and the party hosts, and in general my raw bird would just be a nuisance to all involved, I'm just sending wine and some sort of after-dinner liquer along to the party. No bird, just alcohol.
Yes, the cook's abilities to cook at home have completely failed her. (Sorry Joe and Abby, but I hope the shindig is fun and plentiful of food even without the bird.)
Maybe by the end of the week I'll have it thawed enough to cook off and then make some soup. But who will I feed 13 pounds of turkey to? I can't re-freeze it as it is partially thawed already, so it looks like Jenno, Jeff, and anyone else that wants will be having turkey sandwiches for a week.
