Girl Scout Cookies

I forgot that before I decided to become vegan I'd ordered Girl Scout Cookies. Oh cruel fate, they arrived today.

My old faves, the Caramel Delites are not vegan, but just as I was ready to feed the chocolate-coated peanut butter ones to my boyfriend too, I read the label. No egg... dairy isn't listed as an allergen... soy lecithin is listed... no unknown compounds... BINGO!

I'm so happy right now.

**ETA 03/17/07: Regarding Stef's comment, the PB ones really don't have milk in them, they're just produced on the same equipment. From a kosher standpoint they're dairy, and they put an allergen warning on the box about potential cross-contamination, but it actually is not an intended ingredient. I've read the box a zillion times now. I'm crazy paranoid. The GS website is misleading in saying all cookies contain milk/wheat/soy but they're really just covering their butts for allergy cases. I won't be ordering more next year, but at least I could eat the one box I ordered this year.
